TOUR DESCRIPTION

Agenda 

Day 1 Arrival & Breifing

Arrival at Skopje airport. Pick up and transfer to Skopje for a short walk in Skopje center and old town with lunch. Afternoon transfer to Popova Shapka for a dinner and accommodation in SCARDUS HOTEL & SPA . General briefing with the guides about the upcoming days upon the dinner.

 

Day 2 Leshnica Valley E – BIke

Breakfast 07:30

Starting of E-bike activity 09:00

After breakfast we will start riding directly from the hotel. We will ascent to 2000 meters of altitude in the morning, and start descending a nice and vivid single trail deep in the Sharr Mountain forests. From the single trail we will exit on a dirt road, taking us up and down to one of the most beautiful places in Macedonia, the Valley of Lower Leshnica where we will organize a picnic lunch. After the lunch we continue to ride towards the villages of  Bozovce, Veshala and Shipkovica, crossing two small mountain rivers, where our transport will pick us up to get us back to SCARDUS HOTEL  for a shower and then we will have an hour and a half transfer to our next accommodation and dinner place Korab Trnica.

Day 3 Korab mountain Hike

07:00 Breakfast

08:00 Short 30 minute transfer to the starting point of the hike to Golem Korab Peak

Korab is a mountain located in the far west part of North Macedonia on the border with Albania. The peak of Golem Korab is sitting on  2,764m and it’s the highest peak both in Macedonia and Albania. The hiking trail is nothing technical but it’s quite demanding due to the 11-12km uphill walk and height difference (1550 m). The whole route would take about 9 hours. For this day we will have our lunch packed with us so we can enjoy having well deserved lunch on the top of Korab mountain. 

After the hike we will go back to our accommodation in Korab Trnica for dinner and overnight.

 

Day 4 Horse Back Riding & Camp

07:30 Breakfast

09:00 Leaving the hotel and transport to the Sherpa Horse Riding ranch deep in the Mavrovo National Park. The ranch is found 1km before the famous village of

10.00 Arriving in Galichnik known for the rich history and architecture.Before we go to the ranch we will make a short visit to the village of Galichnik for coffee or tea.

11.00 Arrival at the ranch. 

11.30 Workshops –  Milking goats and cheese preparation

12.30 Picnic lunch (fresh meat provided directly from the ranch) followed by wine and cheese tasting *

13.30 Safety equipment handout, Safety and Procedures briefing, Practical explanation of western style horseback riding (non-riders are also welcome)

14.30 Departure to the base camp

17.00 Arrival to the base camp

 

All the camp equipment is provided and included in the price. It’s up to you if you want to participate in helping around the camp or just enjoy the view over Korab mountain by the bonfire. 

Dinner is usually served around sunset 

 

Day 5 Horse Back Riding to the Ranch

09.00 Starting breakfast preparations

11.00 Departure to the ranch of horse club BISTRA – GALICNIK on horseback (ride along the lake shore and up to the high mountain peaks with a fantastic view of the MAVROVO LAKE)

12.30 Lunch at the sheep farm 

14.00 Departure to the ranch of the horse club BISTRA – GALICNIK on horseback 

15.30 Arrival at the Sherpa Horse Riding ranch 

16:30 Transport to Hotel Neda in Galichnik for dinner and sleepover.

 

Day 6 Free day in Ohrid

08:00 Breakfast in Hotel Neda, and checkout. 

This day is planned to be free activity day in the city of Ohrid. After the breakfast in Hotel Neda we will have a transfer to the accommodation in Ohrid. On the way we will make a short stop to visit the Saint Jovan Bigorski Monastery.

Once we get accommodated, everyone is free to do whatever they want. We are here to give you some ideas about what you want to do.  Ohrid lake is good for swimming so we can recommend some of the local beaches or if someone is interested in paragliding over the Ohrid lake we can organize also that with our local partners specialized in doing tandem paragliding. We will recommend some restaurants where you can have a tasty local food lunch / dinner. City of Ohrid is definitely worthy  to do some walk around the city. It’s a city full of history and is the cradle of the Orthodox church. There are many sights from the old town of Ohrid over the lake that are really worth to see. In the evening we will gather up for a drink in order to discuss the plan about the next two days of riding.

Day 7 E-bike at Jablanica mountain

 

Breakfast 07:30

After the breakfast we will have a short 30min transfer to the starting point of our tour. We start our riding in the village also known as the Republic of Vevchani. Known for its amazing architecture as well as the wonderful springs of Vevchani, the Yablanica mountain is one of the least visited beauties in Macedonia. Formed as an old volcano, it is a lively mountain full of small rivers, pastures and high forests. It is also a National Park from the side of Albania, and gives us one of the best views to the amazing Ohrid lake.

We will start riding from this village to the highest village of the mountain Jablanica, Gorna Belica and ride parallel with the border of Albania high in the mountains. Riding on the ridge offers breathtaking views, and we slowly will descend to to the Radozda village on the Ohrid lake shore. Lunch is organized in a traditional fish restaurant in Radozda (swim suits should be ready, and our transport will meet us there).After the lunch we will get transferred to the same accommodation.Dinner will be organized in one of the Ohrid restaurants.

Day 8 E-bike in Galichica National Park

Day 7 – Breakfast in the hotel and then transfer to the starting point in he village Velestovo on the mountain Galicica. For our last riding day we have chosen the amazing Galichica National Park. Rising right next to the city of Ohrid, Galichica is an integral part of the UNESCO protected Ohrid lake biodiversity region. An old karst mountain, it is a home of many species of wildlife. We will  ride in the high mountain valleys of Galicica to the village of Elshani where we will have a homemade traditional lunch in a guest house.From there riding down to the lake and near the lake and back to the hotel.

Day 9 Transport to the airport

Recommended items to bring : Boots for outdoor activity, 10-20l backpack for daily use. Good waterproof top with hood.  Warm clothes, both for windy / cold daytime conditions and for the cool evenings (fleece tops or similar). Bike shorts and long trousers for walking, preferably quick-drying material. 

Sweatshirts or T-shirts for biking, at least one with long sleeves and collar (against sun-burn) swim suits, sunglasses, sun block Medicine for personal use,
